I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was fairly laid back, but oh so fun.

On Saturday, I had an awesome lower body workout. Three rounds of: back squats, deadlifts, hamstring curls on a stability ball, alternating lunges, and plié squats. It took about 25min to complete, but there was minimal rest so I felt like I worked really hard. And my sore legs yesterday and today reminded me that yes, it was an effective workout. I’ve been cringing everytime I walk down the stairs! That evening Dave and I went out for supper at The Keg, had dessert at Il Mercato, and then had tickets to see Cirque du Soleil: Dralion. It was amazing. The tricks performed by the athletes were awesome, and every movement was spot-on with the music. It was different than I expected it to be, but still very very cool. Someday when I go to Las Vegas I’m going to see their show O, it looks incredible!

Yesterday was spent on the back desk since it was a gorgeous day here. We bought a new little patio set, so I set it up and we sat outside and drank summer beer (mmmm Bud Light Lime), played cards, and chatted. Supper was bbqed hamburgers, and since it was still sunny out we ate them outside. It was such a perfect spring day.

Today on the agenda is a pretty low-key day off, and then I have a spin class at suppertime. Enjoy your day 🙂

What was the best thing you did this weekend?

This is Country Music

It’s Friday! And it’s actually MY Friday, that only happens once a month. The countdown is on for the weekend! Dave and I are going to see Cirque du Soleil tomorrow night, and out for supper/dessert before the show. I’ve always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show, and Dave won tickets so this worked out perfectly. No big plans yet for Sunday but I think a low-key day will be perfect, especially if it’s a rainy day. Movies and rain just go hand in hand, don’t you think?

I want to share a country music playlist with you today. I’m a HUGE country fan. Always have been, and always will be. Mind you, I did go through a pop phase in middle school, but I’ve always been a country girl at heart. This mix is some old stuff from when I was young, and has some really new stuff too. Didn’t think you could workout with country on? Think again 🙂

I always joke around with my mom and Dave that I’m not a big fan of Carrie Underwood songs, but really the girl can sing. She also isn’t afraid to say that she actually works out (and hard!). It drives me nuts when celebrities say they don’t workout at all: workouts should be something that we’re proud of, not ashamed of! So tomorrow morning when I’m squatting and lunging my way to lean looking legs, here’s what I’m aiming for:

Hope you’re having a great week so far! I have a very fun weekend coming up, so that always makes the work week feel a little longer.

I’ve decided that I’m going to have just two posts per week, and I’m going with one on Tuesdays and one on Fridays. Working shiftwork means strange patterns of days off (and sporadic blog posts) so I think just sticking to 2 days a week will make my blog more consistent.

 

I had a great spin workout yesterday before work and I’ve got one coming up tomorrow morning as well. My gym added a new class time late morning so that gets two thumbs up from me!
